SUMMARY:A New Generation Remembers: A Unique Holocaust Exhibit on display at TABI
DESCRIPTION:The Committee to Promote Respect in Schools (CYPRESS) invites you to join in a powerful\, creative learning experience around the Holocaust. \nCYPRESS\, in partnership with Temple Adath B’nai Israel (TABI)\, is hosting an exhibit of Holocaust Murals created by students designed to ensure memories of the Holocaust are preserved in art. \nThe exhibit is called “A New Generation Remembers: A Unique Holocaust Exhibit.” The mural collection is part of a program for gifted middle and high school students from Kentucky. Every summer\, a group of students immerse themselves in the study of the Holocaust\, watching historical films\, taking field trips and hearing from survivors themselves. During the course\, students work together to complete a mural. \nThis is the 25th year of the Holocaust education program. Through the years\, students have created 21 murals in all. They are each 6 feet by 9 feet long. Every mural is unique\, but displayed together\, they tell a powerful story\, and ensure that the lessons of the Holocaust are not forgotten. \nThe mural collection will be on display at Temple Adath B’nai Israel\, 8440 Newburgh Road\, Evansville\, IN\, the first two weeks of February. The exhibit will be open during the week for middle and high school field trips\, and open on the weekends for public viewing and special events. \nSPECIAL EVENT: “An Afternoon of Remembrance” with speaker Fred Gross\, Holocaust Survivor from Louisville\, Kentucky\nWhen: Sunday\, February 10\, 2019 – 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.\, reception immediately following\nWhere: Temple Adath B’nai Israel\nOpen to the Public \nPUBLIC VIEWING HOURS:\nWeekdays: February 4 – 8 and February 11- 15 – 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.\nWeekends: February 9/10 and February 16/17 –  1:00 – 4:00 p.m. \nMIDDLE and HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS:\nSchool field trips are encouraged during the weekday public viewing hours. We estimate it will take approximately 1 hour to view the entire display. We estimate 40-50 students can view the murals at one time. We will work to accommodate larger classes.
